The Dunedin Brewery Community Drum Circle

A photo from the Mardi Gras Drum Circle Party 2007

Below is dozens of photos taken of the drum circle from various nights, and special events.

I started this drum circle 2 years ago back in 2006. It took off like a rocket. The key to success was attracting good musicians to come in and jam, and not charging at the door. Just the honor system. And it worked. It is a bit of a challenge to host an on going drum circle at a casual drinking establishment, but the vibe was always good, people had a blast, and the musicianship was even better. Three hours would go by like it was one. Most everyone drank in moderation, so it never became an issue. For many of us, this was one of the most fun drum circles in the Tampa Bay Area. We would have the belly dancers come out on a regular basis, and all kinds of guest artists would attend. I resigned after 2 years, and James is hosting it now. I hope that what we all began there goes on forever. I still drop in and jam once or twice a month. It's going on from 8 - 11PM on every Tuesday. (It get's hopping about 9:30)

The Dunedin Brewery is located at 937 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, Florida. 34698 Directions: From US Highway 19, you take Highway 580 towards the beach. Douglas Ave. is the last left hand turn before Highway 580 ends at Alt 19. You turn left & it's 2 blocks.

Check out some of these drum circle photos below. There's a few short videos from the Fat Tuesday & Halloween drum circles below them. Here's an mp3 from one of my drum circle CDs. You can listen to it while the photos load. There's a lot of photos, so please be patient.

Here's a 6 minute video from the 3 hour Halloween drum circle, at the Dunedin Brewery. The video was shot by Ron from Tampa Taiko. It's a little dark, but you can still see what a great time, and how much fun it was. Andrea wins a free micro brew for hula hooping longer than 1 minute. We had a ball together that night, and every night for 2 years.

A Scottish Bagpiper joined us at the "Fat Tuesday" Mardi Gras drum circle party for a drum jam. We played for 4 hours that night, people from the parade came over and danced in their costumes. It was a night filled with wildness, great drumming, & we had a bunch of good belly dancers too! Ron plopped his camera down on top of the old Jalopy, and just happened to catch this cool video. You can see the jalopy, and the other side of the drum circle in the very top photo of the page.
